Big Springs:
The area's newest shooting range, Big Springs is located west of Montezuma and just east of Searsboro, Iowa, at 4945 Highway 146. The range includes facilities for open shotgun and five-stand sporting clays. A trap and skeet field includes skeet buildings with high and low houses, and remote-controlled trap machines. Some 17 acres are dedicated to roads and shooting ranges, but there is more ground, and it is dedicated to native prairie grass. Brownells, Inc. of Montezuma, the world’s largest supplier of firearm accessories and gunsmithing tools, was instrumental in developing Big Springs.
